Another Update On The Last Starfighter Sequel

A few days ago we broke the story that a sequel to The Last Starfighter was in the works. Now the guys over at FilmBuffOnline have been able to do something we haven’t been able to do: Get someone involved with the production to actually comment on it.

They got someone over at George Paige and Associates, one of the companies producing it, to actually return their phone calls. While it sounds like they did confirm that a sequel to The Last Starfighter is indeed in the works, they were also less optimistic than some of our other sources about how soon it’d actually start filming. Our sources indicated that it could start shooting as early as next month, while FBO claims they were told it was not yet ready to being principal photography.

The good news here is that every sign post along this road seems to point to the fact that this movie is really on the way to happening. When it’ll happen and exactly what it’ll be about has yet to be confirmed. In case you missed it though, check out what our sources told us about when we broke the story a week ago by clicking here.

Strange side note… a few days after we first got the ball rolling on this whole Last Starfighter thing the movie suddenly popped up in frequent replay. Coincidence? Probably, but I couldn’t help stopping in to see if it’s as good as I remember it. It’s a little dated now and the effects are especially cheesy, but the story really is still good. With the way it ends, The Last Starfighter practically begs for a new sequel. It’s taken them twenty years to get around to it, but The Last Starfighter deserves another shot at defending the galaxy.
