Apatow Chases Heard

Since the 2005 release of 40 Year Old Virgin, Cinema Blend writers and editors have been abuzz with Judd Apatow fever. We’re all in first grade, and he’s the pig-tailed hottie we can’t get enough of. The fact that he’s 39 and has a playoff beard is irrelevant. There’s just something about his realistic comedy style that’s a refreshing change. Bloated stereotypes are replaced by charming characters, and subtle, witty niches compensate for over-the-top obviousness. It’s everything Gallagher wishes he could be.

It’s in this state of agog and euphoria that I gleefully report that Apatow’s Pineapple Express has found a leading lady. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amber Heard has been cast as Seth Rogan’s girlfriend in the upcoming laugher. You may remember Heard from being the hottest women you have ever seen, ever. I’m serious. She makes Beyonce look like Billy Crystal’s wife in The Princess Bride. Too bad she’ll be playing the meddling girlfriend.

Little is known about Heard’s character except that she makes her boyfriend (Rogan) promise to quit smoking. Naturally, he lies because that’s how all of us roll when confronted with giving up the herb. I once told a lady friend who caught me smoking that I didn’t want to, but the guy owed me money and my business savvy nature wouldn’t allow me to let him leave without some payment. Shockingly, she didn’t buy it.

Look for this to be out early next year and for allof us to see it on opening day.
