Catherine Hardwicke Making Red Riding Hood A Teenager

Catherine Hardwicke has moved on from the Twiight saga, ready to make her mark in different areas and not be solely associated with teen girls. Which, of course, leads her to take on the Little Red Riding Hood story and update it with a teen love triangle. Yup, that's a change of pace alright.

The story will be written by David Johnson as a gothic retelling of the fairy tale, according to Variety. We were told about the project a few weeks ago in the trades, if you recall. Hardwicke has a lot going on right now, and there's no telling when she'll actually get around to this one. And I have to admit, the project sounds kind of interesting, and brilliant from a marketing standpoint given how easily this will be to market as "From the director of Twilight." Still, I'd rather see her Hamlet get started first.
