Exclusive Poster Premiere: Emily Watson Stars In Oranges & Sunshine

The title Oranges and Sunshine might make you think of a movie set in Florida, something about an orange juice industry or a caper in Key West. But the new movie from director Jon Loach, starring acting powerhouse Emily Watson, is pretty much the opposite of that in every respect, a searing drama about a British social worker who uncovers a massive scandal that had thousands of children deported from England to Australia. The title, as you might guess, is ironic; "They were promised oranges and sunshine: they got hard labour and life in institutions."

The movie is coming to select theaters on October 21, and if you want a better idea of what to expect, check out the movie's new poster, which we're exclusively premiering. The movie also feature Australian actors Hugo Weaving and David Wenham-- both of them featured in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, as it turns out--but of course, it's Watson who's front and center here. Take a look below, and click on it for the larger version.

Below you can also find the film's official synopsis. For a much lengthier synopsis-- and possibly spoilery one, beware-- you can visit the official website of Sixteen Films, the production company behind Oranges and Sunshine. And if you really want to know more, the Wikipedia page for the real Margaret Humphreys isn't a bad place to start. Don't ever say we didn't help you stay informed.
