Heath Ledger's Last Movie Gets A Website

Yesterday we got the sad truth about Heath Ledger’s death, after New York medical examiners released their findings. Short version: It was an accidental overdose on prescription meds. Full details here. It’s sort of a sad coincidence that yesterday was also the day that the website for Heath Ledger’s last film went live. No, his last movie isn’t The Dark Knight (despite what you’ve probably heard ad nauseum on every conceivable news channel), it’s the Terry Gilliam directed The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

You can check out the website right here, though there’s not much on it yet. It’s existence however is somewhat reassuring, a promise of sorts that the movie will be finished and released even though Heath was the star and had only filmed about half of his scenes in it. As we reported shortly after Ledger’s death, their plan is to push on and bring in another actor to film the rest of Ledger’s scenes… possibly Johnny Depp. It’s a fantasy movie and there’s a moment in the movie where Heath’s character falls through a mirror. Gilliam is going to do some hocus pocus fairy dust stuff and have him come out as Depp… or whoever ends up as the replacement.

Though there’s not much on the official site yet, a teaser image for the film has popped up online at Quick Stop Entertainment. I posted a smaller version of it with this story, but to see the full image you’ll have to click over there.
