Isla Fisher Is A Shopaholic

I’ll stop short of calling Isla Fisher Hollywood’s new "it girl" (especially after her underwhelming turn in Hot Rod), but she, along with man stallion Sasha Baron Cohen, are turning into forces on the cinematic landscape. We all know about the latter’s obnoxious success with Borat, but the lusty redhead has been making quite a name for herself, due in part to The Lookout and the upcoming Definitely, Maybe. She now appears ready to add another coveted role to her resume.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fisher has been chosen to play the lead in the upcoming adaptation of Shopaholic. The best selling novel followed the exploits of a Manhattanite with a serious money spending problem. Over her head in debt and out-of-options, the bewildered woman takes a job as a financial advisor. Needless to say, hilarity ensues. Thus far the Shopaholic series has published five books and sold millions of copies. If Fisher is lucky, this could turn into the next Bridget Jones. Production is set to begin around the first of the year; so, expect this sometime in 2009.
