Lil' Wayne Hates His Own Documentary

I saw Adam Bhala Lough’s Lil’ Wayne documentary The Carter at Sundance this year (read my review). It sucks, mostly because it kisses Lil’ Wayne’s ass when he probably doesn’t deserve it. Yet in a somewhat baffling twist, Lil’ Wayne is now trying to stop people from seeing a movie which does nothing but talk about how awesome he is.

Variety reports that an LA Superior Court Judge recently refused a request from rapper Lil’ Wayne to block the release of The Carter. Wayne is also suing the doc’s producers, claiming he wasn’t allowed to exercise his right of approval over the contents of the film. I’m not sure what he wants to hide, the film spends most of its running time proclaiming him an all-encompassing genius. Granted, while it’s doing that he’s usually lying on some couch high on syrup or stoned out of his gourd, but that’s hardly a secret. Hell, it’s pretty much his whole rap persona. That’s how the dude sells records.

So no worries Lil’ Wayne’s fans, you’ll soon be able to attend a screening of The Carter and have your love of horrible, creatively bankrupt music gratified, whether Lil’ Wayne likes it or not.
