We've known about Neill Blomkamp's Elysium for what feels like years now, but at the same time we have no idea what to expect from it. No official images or previews have been seen yet...but that's all starting to change. Last week we learned that Blomkamp's follow-up to the Oscar-nominated District 9 would be showing its first first footage at the San Diego Comic Con (we will have full coverage of the panel as its happening!), but for those of you that can't wait until then we now have a scan of the film's first official still.

EW has printed the picture in their latest issue, but The Playlist has brought it online. It doesn't show much - just Matt Damon holding a gun - but it does raise a few questions, namely, "How cool is that gun and where can I buy one?!" You can see a smaller version of the image below, but you can head over to the source to see the full thing.

Set in the not-too-distant future, the film sees the popuation of the world split in two economically. The very wealthy all live in a posh space station (called Elysium) while everyone else is left on the rotting Earth. Obviously, the lower classes don't exactly enjoy the enforced lifestyle and they call on a man named Max (Damon) too lead their revolution. Unfortunately for him, standing in their way is Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a government official who will stop at nothing to stop the space station from being invaded. The movie co-stars William Fichtner, Diego Luna, Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga, Faran Tahir and Wagner Moura and will be released on March 1, 2013.
