Patrick Warburton is one of those actors that you just can't get sick of. Though he does tend to play the same kind of character time and time again - the big dude with an IQ smaller than his shoe size - he has always been able to make people laugh, be it as Puddy on Seinfeld, The Tick on the short-lived Fox live-action series, Brock Samson on Venture Bros. or Joe on Family Guy. But while most of his iconic work has been on television, now he's coming back to the big screen.
Deadline reports that Warburton has been cast in Ted, the live-action directorial debut of Seth MacFarlane. In the film, the actor will play Guy, a "sexually confused" co-worker of Mark Wahlberg's character. The site says that Guy is described in the script as being "a burly Patrick Warburton type," suggesting that MacFarlane wrote the role with him in mind. In addition to Wahlberg, who plays the film's lead, and MacFarlane himself, who plays the titular character (a slacker, foul-mouthed teddy bear), the cast includes Warburton's Family Guy co-star Mila Kunis, Giovanni Ribisi and Joel McHale.
I'm not sure how I can express how much appreciation I have for Warburton's work, so I'm going to let the following video do it for me instead:
