Stephen Norrington Hopes To Shoot The Crow Reboot This Summer

Back in October when it was announced that The Crow was getting a reboot, hordes of sullen, mascara-sporting goth kids did the emo equivalent of jumping for joy: turning their permanent frowns into indifferent stares. The same legions of Hot Topic shoppers now have cause to crack an honest to goodness smirk, as director Stephen Norrington hopes to be behind the lens of this comic adaptation this summer.

It's all just hope at this point though. Norrington recently told Mania.com that he will have a first draft of the script ready by the end of this month, but so many other factors are still up in the air. According to the writer/director, they've put some feelers out to actors they're interested in, but absolutely nothing is set in stone. Budgets, volatile as they always are, are still being slogged through based on an incomplete script, so there's no telling 100% when we'll see a camera pointed at a new, broody anti-hero.

Norrington said will be referring back to the original comics rather than just building off of Alex Proyas' original 1994 Dwight Schrute favorite. Fans also won't be seeing a reincarnation of Eric Draven, which may or may not upset some people, but anything to help me move on from a Stinged-out Edward Furlong is alright in my book.

Unfortunately for people who don't give a shit about The Crow, interest in this film is forcing The Lost Patrol, Norrington's supernatural WWII flick, onto the back burner.

The Crow has lots of potential to be great in the right hands, but Norrington's mitts aren't proven gold spinners. Is anyone out there really excited for this? Or will you hang out with us in the skeptical department until we actually see the final product?
