Trailer: The Proposal

I'm a little confused here. I've watched the trailer for The Proposal twice on MSN.com. And despite the fact that it's one of those movies where people get engaged for stupid, unbelievable reasons, and despite the fact that it's called something as unbelievably generic as The Proposal... I laughed. Several times. And might actually be looking forward to this one.

I think a lot of this is thanks to the stars Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock, who are doing kind of a Devil Wears Prada thing where she's his super-mean boss and he's the assistant who lives to meet her every whim. And you know that if Miranda Priestly had suddenly found out she was being deported back to Canada, she would have gotten a lackey to marry her to hold on to her green card. So Sandra Bullock bullies Ryan Reynolds into being her fiance, they go off to Alaska to meet his family, and you know, hilarity and true love bloom from there.

I know, I know, it sounds awful. But for some reason Bullock and Reynolds look great together, each of them boasting crackerjack comedic sensibilities that don't get used often enough these days. It's fun to watch them fail at pretending to like each other, or beat each other up when people aren't looking. Call me crazy, but this one might just work. Check out the trailer at MSN.com and see for yourself.
