Vera Farmiga To Star Alongside Aaron Eckhart In The Drummer

Aaron Eckhart has found his first co-star in The Drummer, a biopic about Beach Boys co-founder Dennis Wilson. Vera Farmiga, according to THR, has landed a role in the movie playing Christine McVie, who is best known as the keyboardist for Fleetwood Mack.

Eckhart first signed on to the film in October, when it was announced that Randall Miller and Jody Savin, the filmmakers behind 2008's Bottle Shock, were attached to direct and write, respectively. The story will cover the last six years of Wilson's life. During that period the musician released his solo album "Pacific Ocean Blue." Wilson died at the age of 39 by drowning, as a result of being intoxicated.

Farmiga's role in the film will be informed by the volatile relationship that Wilson and with McVie following her divorce from husband John McVie. The Fleetwood Mac song "Hold Me" was written by McVie and was about her relationship with Wilson. Farmiga, as it turns out, is actually a classically trained pianist and will be both playing her own instruments and singing her own songs in the movie. The film will actually be the second time that the actress and Eckhart have worked together, as they both had roles in the 2005 Joshua Michael Stern movie Neverwas. Production is currently scheduled to begin in June, and will shoot in both Southern California and Savannah, Georgia.

Farmiga has a full upcoming slate at the moment, including Nae Caranfil's drama Closer to the Moon, Sue Kramer's The Locals, James Wan's Untitled Warren Files Project, and Robert Connolly's A View From A Bridge, which is currently filming.
