Just before showing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for the crowd at ShoWest last week, Disney premiered a new trailer for The Sorcerer's Apprentice, their other live-action fantasy coming out this summer. And while I'll be sharing my very mixed feelings on Prince of Persia with you later, I was nothing but excited about the Apprentice trailer. Both movies seem to be aiming to capture the spirit and adventure of the Pirates films-- it's not a coincidence that Jerry Bruckheimer is producing all of them-- and while Persia didn't come close, Apprentice seems to be right on the money.

That new trailer has debuted online, so watch it below and see what I mean. Something about the combination of puny Jay Baruchel and totally balls-out crazy Nicolas Cage strikes me, as does the beautiful visual effects and the authentic New York setting. Plus in this trailer we finally get a look at Alfred Molina's villain character, who is somehow matching Cage in flamboyance. Call me crazy, but I'm sold.
