The Bridge TV Spots Showcase The Show's Eerie Tone And Unique Setting
Of all the shows on the summer schedule, FX's The Bridge is perhaps the most intriguing. The network hasn't used much footage from the actual series in the advertising, instead opting for a bunch of brief, atmospheric spots like this new "Loteria" promo. They're pretty effective when it comes to conveying the tone, and The Bridge's YouTube channel is littered with similar short teases, but it would be nice to see another trailer like "Two Pieces" that actually shares some looks at the upcoming border series.
The show looks like a mix of No Country For Old Men and In The Valley Of Elah and, like I said, I can't wait to see more, especially since the pilot was helmed by Miss Bala director Gerardo Naranjo. To be fair, even the first 'trailer' is heavy on the mystery and light on the details, however, it does at least introduce the leads, Academy Award nominee Demián Bichir (A Better Life) and Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds), who play homicide detectives who work on opposite sides of the titular Bridge.
For a little more information on the interesting setting (the border of El Paso and Juarez), not to mention some beautiful cinematography (hopefully showcasing what we'll see in the series), here's another promo from FX called "Beyond The Bridge: 3 Million People, 2 Cities, 1 Border." The Bridge premieres on Wednesday, July 10 at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
