The now iconic HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm will soon return for a ninth season, and we're pretty excited. Pretty... Pretty... pretty excited. But beyond the knowledge that we would actually get a ninth season of Curb, we haven't had many details come forward regarding when the series would actually come to air. That's all changed, as HBO has finally shed some light on when we will finally see everyone's least favorite TV writer return to wreak havoc on everyone's lives.
HBO has unleashed a veritable tsunami of new information regarding its most beloved series, and Curb Your Enthusiasm certainly made the list. A recent reveal from the Television Critics Association summer press tour (via TVLine) indicates that the upcoming ninth season of Larry David's legendary comedy series will premiere sometime in 2017. Production on the upcoming episodes is expected to begin this fall, and they will subsequently air sometime during the following year.
It goes without saying that we're already excited to know that Curb Your Enthusiasm will return, but this news only further enhances our excitement. Earlier rumors initially had indicated that the ninth season of the infinitely awkward sitcom would not air until 2018. These rumors have seemingly been proven false, and the idea of Curb Your Enthusiasm hitting the airwaves a full year earlier than expected is nothing short of tantalizing.
Curb Your Enthusiasm is one of those shows that regularly oscillates between life and death. Much like Louis C.K's hit FX series Louie, Curb essentially lives and dies by the willingness of its headlining comedian to sign on. Larry David has regularly flip flopped over the years regarding how long he plans on doing the show, and time gaps between seasons are almost never consistent. HBO simply has enough faith in David to deliver high quality programming whenever he gets around to it, so they seem to have given him an incredibly long leash in the matter.
At the end of the day there's really only one thing that we definitively need when Curb Your Enthusiasm returns to HBO, and that's more of J.B. Smoove as Leon. Check out the scene below for a quick refresher course in how amazing Leon's chemistry was with Larry David:
Cinema Blend will keep you up to date with any and all information related to the upcoming ninth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm as more details become available. We don't yet know the overarching plot of the season, but we don't care; it's just good to have Larry David back in our lives.
