Directors, Producers Reach Tentative Agreement

In the continuing saga of Hollywood wheeling and dealing, the Directors Guild of America (DGA) has reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).

The new agreement gives directors increased wages and residuals for each of the three years, reports an ETOnline.com story. It will also deliver a number of Internet-related gains, as well.

“Two words describe this [the directors' and producers'] agreement -- groundbreaking and substantial,” says Gil Cates, chair of the DGA's Negotiations Committee. “The gains in this contract for directors and their teams are extraordinary -- and there are no rollbacks of any kind.”

Any bets on whether the agreement will spur WGA negotiators to make a deal ending their strike? George Clooney thinks so. In a statement to ET on Thursday afternoon, the actor said, "I'm very pleased with the new agreement and I hope it helps speed up the negotiations with the WGA."

We can only hope. Come on, People. It’s been 11 weeks. We want our MTV. And Fox and CBS and ABC.
