Movies Rock CBS Next Week

Next Friday (12/7), CBS is set to air the first annual Movies Rock event, which will celebrate music and its role in filmmaking. A number of stars in the entertainment industry are all set to participate in the two-hour special, either as presenters or performers.

Music has been a part of filmmaking pretty much since the beginning of the motion picture art form. Even “silent” films included a soundtrack of some sort. Back in those days, pianists would actually sit in the theater and play the music to accompany the film. Anyone who has ever fallen in love with a film soundtrack knows how important the music can be in setting the pace and general mood of a film. So the whole idea of an event that will express appreciation for the blending of these two art forms seems not only appropriate but long overdue.

According to CBS’s website, there are quite a few big names set to perform or present throughout the special. Among the performers are Elton John, Carrie Underwood, Beyonce, John Legend, John Williams, Fergie and Usher. The presenters will include Billy Bob Thornton, Charlize Theron, Cuba Gooding Jr., Danny Devito, Emily Deschanel, Harrison Ford, Jenna Fischer, Jennifer Lopez, John C. Reilly, Josh Duhamel, Kate Hudson, Matthew Broderick, Quentin Tarantino, Rita Moreno and Shirley MacLaine

Movies Rock will air on CBS on Friday, December 7th at 9:00 p.m.
