Phineas And Ferb Is Ending, But It Will Go Out With A Bang

Everybody loves a good long summer vacation, but we all know that they have to eventually end sometime, as depressing as that may be. The same goes for TV shows, and in this case, a TV show about living it up in the dog days of summer. Disney has announced they are bringing the all-ages hit Phineas and Ferb to an end next month after four seasons. To mark the occasion, Disney XD will be airing a 3-day-long marathon leading up to the finale. Ferb, I know what we’re gonna do those three days!

The Emmy Award-winning animated series Phineas and Ferb has been on the air since 2007, with multi-year-spanning seasons comprised of over 40 episodes apiece. The final episode, “Last Day of Summer,” will air on Friday, June 12, and it will be preceded by every single episode of the series that’s already aired, with the marathon kicking off on Tuesday, June 9, at 8 p.m. ET. (That episode count comes to either 126 or 222, depending on if you’re reading the press release or Wikipedia.) It’s not clear if the one-hour specials or the movie Phineas and Ferb: Across the Second Dimension will be included in the marathon, but their exclusions would hardly be something to split green hairs over.

Phineas and Ferb follows the ridiculous misadventures of stepbrothers Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher, but sometimes their pet platypus Perry steals the show, as he’s a secret agent for O.W.C.A., the animal-friendly government organization that dedicates their efforts to taking down the dimly evil Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz and other mad scientists. Thankfully, fans will be able to see Perry and the rest of his fellow agents when Disney XD airs the standalone one-hour special The O.W.C.A. Files at some point this fall.

What’s more, the show’s creators and voice actors Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh are already set to bring a new animated comedy series to Disney XD called Mikey Murphy’s Law. That new series, which is set to premiere in 2017, will center on Mikey, the fictional descendant of the Murphy’s Law namesake, whom we can assume gets into one troublesome situation after another. It will probably be sharing some schedule space with Star Wars Rebels and the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy series.

So don’t forget to make at least 20 pitchers of lemonade and get set for the 73-hour Phineas and Ferb marathon on Tuesday, June 9, with the series finale airing on Friday, June 12, at 9 p.m. ET. Here’s hoping the finale features a large handful of guest stars, since the show has been known for its celebrity cameos over the years. Bring back Simon Pegg!
