Psych Season 6 Preview: Shawn Rescues Darth Vader Wednesday Night

USA’s clever detective series Psych returns tomorrow night for its sixth season with an episode that will once again put Shawn’s observational abilities to the test as he and Gus work to solve a big case. The premiere episode is titled “Shawn Rescues Darth Vader,” and you’ll see why and how in one of the clips we have to show you.

Psych isn’t a show I watch every week when it’s airing, but what I love about it is that in addition to being interesting and funny, I never have any trouble enjoying it even if I’m not entirely caught up. So even if you’ve never seen an episode, it shouldn’t be hard to follow if you were to start with tomorrow night’s season premiere.

Psych stars James Roday and Dule Hill as Shawn and Gus, two men who have known each other since they were young, and offer their detective services to the local law enforcement. Having been raised by a detective, Shawn’s observational skills are heightened to the point that he’s able to pose as a psychic. In truth, his sixth sense is really just the ability to see things others miss and make the right (sometimes) connections.

Rounding out the cast is Corbin Bernsen, Timothy Omundson, Maggie Lawson, and Kirsten Nelson. The series is a mix of comedy and drama, but leans toward comedy, keeping things light most of the time, much in the way that Monk did, despite the serious tones brought in by the kinds of cases they work on.

Star Wars must be on a lot of people’s minds lately. Last night’s episode of How I Met Your Mother’s B-plot involved the scifi film saga and the matter of the Ewok Line. Psych's season premiere will have Shawn and Gus wrapped up in a murder mystery that has very little to do with Darth Vader, but the dark Jedi does have his place in the story, as you’ll see in the first video below. The second one explores Shawn’s dream of having diplomatic immunity.

Psych Season 6 premieres Wednesday, October 12th at 10/9c on USA.
