Sutherland To Produce Phenomenal Pilot For Sci Fi

The Executive Vice President of Programming at the Sci Fi Channel announced yesterday that they have ordered a script for a two-hour pilot which will be produced by ‘24’ star and Emmy winner, Kiefer Sutherland. The pilot is called ‘Phenomenon’ and is described as a “fast moving and enigmatic thriller” which follows a “team of experts lead by a mysterious young female prodigy, as they investigate bizarre and supernatural anomalies of nature.”

Along with Sutherland, Maggie Murphy, the President of his production company (East Side Entertainment) will be producing the pilot. Murphy’s had a hand in the development of a number of popular shows including ‘Veronica Mars,’ ‘The X-Files,’ and ‘The Simpsons.’

In addition to the announcement that the pilot was ordered, Stern had this to say about the show: “In ‘Phenomenon’ ordinary people have their assumptions about the natural world – their very belief systems – completely shattered when they are confronted by unsettling, unexplained phenomena.”

The Sci Fi Channel excels at exploring the supernatural world. With seasoned pros like Sutherland and Murphy at the wheel of this show, there’s a good chance it will go to series.
