Bryan Singer may have lost a little geek cred when Superman Returns didn’t turn out quite the way anyone hoped. But he still seems like a good guy to hand off a superhero story to, which makes his plans to produce Capeshooters all the more interesting. As Variety puts it in their write-up, “Singer, who has directed films about virtuous superheroes, is interested in exploring the darker side of the subject.”
The “darker side” will involve two decidedly un-super guys who make their living photographing and videotaping superheroes. The paparazzi have to go on the run after they discover that one particular hero is actually a super-villain. The project is based on the Image Comics book that has yet to be released. The concept is original, and Singer seems like the right man for the job. Has Hancock ruined the idea of “bad” superheroes, or is it time to let someone else take a crack at the concept?
