Contagion's Jennifer Ehle And Nash Edgerton Sign On For Katheryn Bigelow's Bin Laden Thriller
Looks like Joel won't be the only Edgerton on the hunt for Osama bin Laden in Kathryn Bigelow's next film.
Entertainment Weekly has learned from a source close to the production that Nash Edgerton - who is Joel's brother - and Jennifer Ehle - who is best known her performance in Steven Soderbergh's Contagion - have both signed on for roles in Bigelow's upcoming thriller, which is still without a name. The pair of actors join a cast that is already bursting at the seams with talent, with Joel Edgerton, Jessica Chastain, Edgar Ramirez, Jason Clarke, Mark Strong, Kyle Chandler and Chris Pratt all already signed on. Based on a script by Mark Boal (who previously worked with Bigelow on The Hurt Locker), the project follows SEAL Team 6 as they go on the hunt for the most dangerous terrorist in the world. Though no details are given about Ehle's character, Nash will play a Navy SEAL (though it doesn't say if he'll be a part of team). The movie will be going into production shortly and Sony Pictures has already announced that it will be released in theaters on December 19th.
For those unfamiliar with Nash Edgerton's work, that's because he's primary profession is not as an actor. Rather, he is better known for his stunt work (for example, he was Ewan McGregor's double in the last two Star Wars prequels) and directing (he previously helmed The Square, which was one of the titles that got his brother attention in Hollywood). Now I'm just left to wonder if Bigelow thinks she can get away with having the Edgerton brothers' characters not be related.
