Even The Dark Knight Rises Official Director Photo Is Deliberately Vague
As part of their 2012 preview kit Warner Bros. has released stills from all of their anticipated upcoming films, and while there are no new images from the actual film The Dark Knight Rises, there's a shot of director Christopher Nolan on the set that seems worth sharing-- because, let's face it, everything from The Dark Knight Rises is worth sharing at this point. It's not like you can glimpse key plot details or characters in the background as Nolan guides them on the set, but it's kind of amusing for the exact opposite-- this is a director set photo that goes out of its way to tell you absolutely nothing. See what I mean below, and click on it for an even higher-res version.
![]() I mean, sure, we do get to see Nolan standing right there with the IMAX camera he used to shoot several action sequences, including the jaw-dropping plane heist shown in the prologue before Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. And Nolan is wearing his customary dapper scarf and immaculate hairdo, so it's good to know the man stays well dressed even on the job. But what on earth is this empty white background he's standing in front of? How did they manage to capture Nolan exclusively in front of an image that tells us literally nothing about his own film? Presumably the images of him working with the actors will come later, but for right now, the official publicity images for this film are dead set on maintaining maximum mystery. Lucky for you, we're not-- ever since the new trailer debuted last week we've been dissecting possible information in it and scanning through individual screenshots. Head over there for the conversation that, based on this photo, Christopher Nolan obviously wants you to keep having while knowing a bare minimum about his film. |
