Actor and singer Jonathan Groff has taken on Broadway, originating the role of Melchior Gabor in the controversial rock musical Spring Awakening. He's landed movie roles in Ang Lee's Taking Woodstock and Robert Redford's The Conspirator. But he's best known as the debonair and duplicitous Jesse St. James, who broke Rachel Berry's heart on Glee. Now the Broadway star-turned TV star will have the exciting opportunity to become a Disney character, having signed on to voice Kristoff in the House of Mouse's upcoming musical adventure Frozen.

Last week we got a first look at concept art from the film, which will be helmed by Wreck-it Ralph writer Jennifer Lee and Surf's Up director Chris Buck. At the time Disney wasn't ready to reveal who would play Kristoff, the film's male lead opposite Kristen Bell's heroine, though Groff was rumored. Now, he officially joins a voice cast studded with Broadway luminaries including Josh Gad (Book of Mormon) and Idina Menzel (Wicked). With voice talent like this, you can bet Frozen's soundtrack will pack a wallop.

Frozen is based on the fairy tale of The Snow Queen, popularized by Danish storyteller Hans Christian Anderson. Disney's version centers on Anna (Bell) a girl who lives in a land plagued by an endless winter, caused by her cursed sister Elsa (Mendel). Kristof (Groff) is the mountain man who leads her into the treacherous and icy peaks where her sister hides. Gad will play a talking snowman named Olaf.

Frozen is slated to hit theaters on November 27, 2013.
