I know not everyone is excited about the idea of a fourth Terminator movie. I can even understand why. The guilty pleasure of The Sarah Connor Chronicles aside, the Terminator franchise is quite a ways in the past and the lack of Ahnold involvement isn’t quite made up for by the likes of Christian Bale and Sam Worthington, especially when you consider McG’s at the helm. While I’m interested in seeing where the franchise can lead, I can see why some people aren’t interested.
So, this is good news for those who don’t want to see that fourth Terminator movie – you may not have to. While nothing official has been announced, UGO Movieblog is reporting that they have a source who has informed them the production has been shut down. They admit their source is working from hearsay, having overheard someone else discussing a newly freed up schedule, but that’s still cause enough for concern or celebration, depending on how you feel about the sequel.
Since I’m on the side that’s interested in seeing where a fourth film would take things, I have to admit a bit of disappointment if this turns out to be true. While I all but wrote off the film when McG was announced as the director, just about every move that’s been made since looked good. I can’t imagine what would shut the production down so early in the game, especially with the television show making Terminator relevant again. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what the official statement on this turns up as.
