Iron Man Writers Take Over TMNT![]()
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been a staple in my life since I was born. From the cartoon to the live action movies (even the third one), I’ve always loved the ninjas in a half shell. 2007’s TMNT wasn’t great, but there’s no reason to stop loving a franchise after just one misstep.
The Turtles next iteration is already worth getting excited for; a live-action, dark adaptation of the original comic books (which originated in my hometown of Dover, NH. Booyah) by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. The ninja’s weren’t always pizza chomping one-liner masters, they started out as rough and tough defenders of NY until they were commercialized in cartoon form in 1987. But since their light and bubbly personas are being stripped away for the upcoming retelling of the Turtles’ story, who better to write the script than the guys who gave us the action smash Iron Man. Art Marcum and Matt Holloway have been tapped to pen at least the first draft of the next TMNT iteration for Platinum Dunes and Paramount, according to THR. The pair also gave us Punisher: War Zone, solidifying themselves as a comic book authority. No exact release date is set, but the target is 2012 and you can put money on them aiming for a big summer blockbuster release. More on the development of this as it get released. |
