This week on Operation Kino, we're focusing on a smaller recent release with a review of Bullhead, the Belgian film that's nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at this weekend's Oscars and is also in theaters now. From there we move on to a conversation about a much bigger movie, John Carter, and specifically the recent rash of news reports that focus on its budget, and whether constant speculation about a movie's budget ruins your potential enjoyment of a film. But first, there's a lightning round devoted to counter culture at the movies and then tidbits, in which Da7e gives a brief primer on Avatar: The Last Airbender and why it's good, David loves the Film Comment Selects film series, Patches talks about the book Sum: 40 Tales from the Afterlives, and Katey wonders how on earth they'll make a movie of Cloud Atlas.
