New Poster For Steven Soderbergh's Side Effects Is Just What The Doctor Ordered
Of the many, many titles set to be released in 2013, there are fewer that I'm cheering harder for than Steven Soderbergh's Side Effects. After a long, stunning career, the Oscar winning filmmaker is getting set to retire and the drug drama, starring Rooney Mara, Jude Law, and Channing Tatum, is set to be his final theatrical release. Given his track record, it would be great for Soderbergh to end his career with a bang instead of a whimper, but we won't know if that will be the case until February. In the meantime we'll just have to be satisfied with the amazing trailer that was released early last month and the brand new poster that has just arrived online.
You can see the one-sheet below, but if you wish to read all of the small print be sure to head over to The Huffington Post where they have it in super high-res.
Am I the only one who saw the name of the physician and wondered why anyone would hire Mike from Breaking Bad as their doctor? Joking aside, I must say that I really dig this poster. A simple design for sure, but I love the prescription motif at the bottom and that tagline along with the image of Mara is definitely haunting (I also enjoy the second tag, "A doctor's most important prescription is trust").
Based on a script by Scott Z. Burns (Contagion), Side Effects stars Mara as Emily Hawkins, a woman who begins using prescription medications from her psychiatrist (Law) in order to control the anxiety she feels about her husband (Tatum) coming back from prison. The movie will be in theaters February 8th, and you can see more from it in our Blend Film Database.
