Tom Cruise is now almost 50 years old, but if you think that's going to stop him from taking on the most challenging film roles he can find you are dead wrong. Beginning this week in IMAX theaters you will be able to see Cruise scale the tallest building in the world - the Burj Khalifa in Dubai - and then swing from it on a cable and then next year he'll be rocking out on stage 80s style in Adam Shankman's Rock of Ages. Are you desperate to know what that will look like? Then check out the newly released trailer.

Watch the first preview for the film below and head over to Apple to see it in HD.

In addition to the trailer the first poster has also been released, which you can see here:

Featuring a full line-up of stars including Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Ackerman, Mary J. Blige, Bryan Cranston, Alec Baldwin, and Cruise, Rock of Ages is set in 1987 as two young people (Boneta, Hough) fall in love try to make it big in Los Angeles. This is set against the backdrop of a rock club that comes under fire when the mayor's hyper-conservative wife (Zeta-Jones) tries to shut it down. The film is based on the hit Broadway play by Chris D'Arienzo and will hit theaters on June 1, 2012.
