Zoe Kravitz And Sophie Okonedo May Join M. Night Shyamalan's Next Movie![]()
It's hard to imagine that there's anyone out there who is really excited to see the next movie from director M. Night Shyamalan. As many were quick to point out after the critical failure of The Last Airbender, each of the films that he has directed since have gotten worse and worse reviews, hitting their lowest point with last year's summer film. His next project, 1000 AE, was first announced late last year and has both Will and Jaden Smith slated to star. But what about the female side of the equation? He's taking care of that now, according to THR.
Zoe Kravitz and Sophie Okonedo are now in talks for roles in Shyamalan's upcoming science-fiction adventure film. The script, which was recently tinkered with by Oscar winner Stephen Gaghan after drafts by Gary Whitta and Shyamalan himself, is set 1,000 years after humans have been forced to vacate Earth (as the title implies). Will Smith will play a warrior with a disappointing son - played by Jaden Smith - but when the two of them crash land on Earth it's up to the son to save the father. Should the end up making a deal and accepting their roles, both Kravitz and Okonedo will be a part of the family as well, the former playing the sister/daughter and the latter playing the mom/wife. Production is scheduled to begin at the beginning of next year and the studio, Columbia Pictures, is looking at a June 2013 release date. As horrible as Will Smith's nepotism has been as of late, at least he's letting this one go. I do have to wonder, though, just how hard he fought to get Jada Pinkett and Willow the parts mentioned above. |
