Brad Pitt has made a career out of looking handsome. An argument could be made the man does some serious acting every now and again, but seriously, don’t try to tell me the handsome thing does not come first in everyone’s minds. Now, the father, actor, activist, and looker is set to use those looks to embark on a brand new, and very strange, path.

Brad Pitt is going to be the new face of Chanel No.5. The brand nabbing a new celebrity as a spokesperson is not a shocker in itself; celebrities from the lovely fashionista Audrey Tautou – who actually played Coco Chanel in Coco Before Chanel – and even big names like Nicole Kidman have helped to market the famous fragrance in the past. However, not one of those lovely faces has ever been a dude.

That’s a long history of advertising to go without a dude. Chanel No. 5 initially began as a free-spirited scent in the early twenties and was the first fragrance the Chanel brand created to market to the “new woman” demographic. Chanel No. 5 has grown up to be a sophisticated fragrance, one the salt and pepper-bearded Pitt should be able to exude with ease. We won’t have to wait long to find out. E! is reporting the 48 year-old actor will begin shooting advertisements as part of his seven-figure deal this week. Maybe he plans to use the money to pay for his upcoming, and potentially lavish, wedding.
