ABC Family Cancels The Nine Lives Of Chloe King

There’s bad news for fans of the ABC Family series The Nine Lives of Chloe King. ABC Family has opted not to renew the series for a second season. And here’s the part where I make a joke about Chloe King running out of lives.

Based on a series of books by Liz Braswell, The Nine Lives of Chloe King followed a teenage girl who learns she has a special destiny and cat-like powers. The series premiered last June and, according to the Hollywood Reporter, took in over two million viewers for its premiere. Unfortunately, a lot of them didn’t stick around as the series was down to “slightly more than 1 million viewers” for its finale last month. Apparently, ABC has decided that’s not enough to push forward with the series as they’ve opted not to bring it back for Season 2.

Maybe it was simply bad timing, with the series airing during the summer, or perhaps teens and young adults didn’t take to Chloe King the way they have to other supernatural/fantasy shows (The Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf, Supernatural). ?I’ll be interested to see what series star Skyler Samuels gets up to next. From what I did see of Chloe King, she's certainly talented enough to handle a starring role. Despite the fate of the series, something tells me Samuels will land on her feet. (Cat humor!)
