Chord Overstreet Still Recurring On Glee?Author: Jesse Carp

While not exactly a fan, the quality is far too erratic from week to week, I've always respected Glee for the sheer guts to bring a musical to prime-time television. As a huge fan of the genre in the cinema, when done right of course (not you, Chicago), I was thrilled to see it hit the small screen. Now it's about to enter its third season and changes are afoot! Well, in this case retractions are afoot?
Ryan Murphy, the notorious pain in the ass... I mean the producer behind the runaway hit series (which is currently touring the continent doing live shows and singing Katy Perry in a viral video with Keenan Cahill) has already announced big plans for the upcoming seasons of the high-school set musical. Some cast members will graduate, you know, like real high-schoolers do which means there might be a revolving door of performers over the next couple seasons. Just the other day, Scott reported that recurring actors Darren Criss and Harry Shum Jr. got the bump to series regulars while Chord Overstreet did not, which led many to speculate that his time on Glee was over (while others cried about it on various social media platforms). Apparently, that's not the whole story as TVLine reports that despite not being promoted to a regular he's still encouraged to continue to appear as a recurring character. Their source claims that, "If Chord wants to appear on Glee, the choice is his. The Glee writers like his Sam character, and have plans to write for him. He and his reps have been told that he is welcome back to Glee, and everyone hopes he will show up on August 10 when filming begins." The insider points out that "it took Shum two years to become a regular," adding, "If Chord has a great season, which we expect he will, then he will become a regular like Harry, possibly as early as January." So there you have it. Chord's Sam Evans might be back and you'll pretty much get to see him the same amount as you did before... with the possibility of more! Glee returns to FOX Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET this fall. |
