The Office is back tonight, and it looks like we'll be seeing a follow-up to one of the twists introduced during the last episode. Andy learned something startling about his family's financial status and now it seems he has to deal with the situation. And from the photos we have to show you, it looks like that includes the return of a certain beloved, musical guest star. Spoilers ahead!
When "Here Comes Treble" ended, Andy learned that his parents are broke. That's a problem! And based on the description for "The Boat," it's one Andy has to deal with. We also have Dwight getting interviewed on a local radio station and Kevin discovering a secret about Oscar.
ANDY IS FORCED TO STEP UP WHEN HIS FAMILY COMES UNDER HARD TIMES-JACK COLEMAN ("HEROES") GUEST STARS-- Andy (Ed Helms) must man up when his Dad blows all the family money. When Dwight (Rainn Wilson) is interviewed on local radio, Jim (John Krasinski) and the office torture him with bizarre call-ins. Meanwhile, Kevin (Brian Baumgartner) discovers a secret about Oscar (Oscar Nunez), and struggles to keep it, while Oscar’s fate hangs in the balance. Jenna Fischer, Leslie David Baker, Phyllis Smith, Angela Kinsey, Kate Flannery, Paul Lieberstein, Creed Bratton, Craig Robinson, Ellie Kemper, Catherine Tate and Jake Lacy also star. Andrew Santino (PUNK’D) also guest stars.
It probably wouldn't be a huge stretch to assume that the secret Kevin discovered about Oscar is the one that was confirmed to us in "Here Comes Treble." There have been hints that Oscar is having a secret affair with Angela's Senator husband. During the end of "Treble," not only did we see a Dinosaur'ed Oscar making out with the Senator, but we also saw Oscar noticing the cameras witnessing it. So we know, and he knows it's out there. It's entirely possible that - of all people - Kevin somehow caught wind of it. We know he has his eye open for things like that. Remember when Jim and Pam were secretly dating? Kevin was the first to suspect. So, this should be good.
Also, the description doesn't mention Josh Groban as a guest-star, but one of the photos from the titular "boat" show Andy's brother Walter Jr., played by Groban" with him. So it seems we'll be seeing him at some point in the episode!
Hooray for the return of Josh Groban! I'll also be interested in seeing if the episode addresses the issues in Andy and Erin's relationship. It seems like things aren't so good from her end, but she's politely putting up with him because it hasn't occurred to her to break up with him. It's a strange blend of funny and depressing and it's probably just a matter of time before it's addressed outright.
The Office airs tonight (Thursday) at 9:00 p.m. ET on NBC.
