Adrien Brody Sues To Keep His Italian Horror Film Giallo Off Shelves

Odds are you were never going to hear about the Adrien Brody horror film Giallo, which, despite being directed by Italian horror maestro Dario Argento, was set merely for a DVD release in the United States and had gotten no publicity whatsoever. But now, in a slightly odd tactic of drawing attention to something he'd rather forget entirely, Brody has helped the film make headlines by suing its producers for nearly $3 million.

As explained in THR, Brody argues that he was misled by the producers about the film's funding when he arrived at the set, and was convinced to delay his payment of $640,000 in exchange for the right to withhold consent for the producers to use his likeness. He now claims he has not been paid and the producers have ignored his requests to withhold the film; he is asking for his $640,000 in addition to $2 million for "breach of contract, breach of fair dealing, fraud, and misappropriation of his publicity rights."

Sounds like Brody has a fairly good case on his hands, without even having to shout "I have an Oscar, dammit, I deserve better than this!" Given how few Argento films have been worth watching in recent years, and how unlikely it is we'll ever see the film, I wouldn't worry too much about getting a look at this film one way or another. I just hope Brody buys something nice with his eventual, seemingly inevitable settlement.

The film's trailer is below, if you're curious to see what this mess is all about.
