The DVD Blend Bets on Slevin

Each week DVDs come out. Some of them are worth your time and money and some aren't. Some of them are movies I've seen, and some of them aren’t. Regardless, I give you my opinion on the big releases of the week. If the releases sound like something you want to buy, just click the link to go to Amazon.com and you’ll support Cinema Blend with a few pennies. Take it or leave it, here's the DVD Blend.

Cinema Blend Pick of the Week:
Lucky Number Slevin2006 has been a very good year for the noir genre. First we got the high school take on the murder mystery via Brick, then came this entry. With Josh Hartnett in the lead I wouldn’t typically give a movie like this much of a glance, but Hartnett proves he can actually do more than just be a pretty face in this mystery that features a cast made up of Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley, Bruce Willis, Lucy Liu, and Stanley Tucci. The movie caught me off guard with a relatively silent appearance in the theater and is getting an equally unheralded arrival on DVD. Don’t be fooled by the lack of buzz however. That cast equals brilliance.Click to puchase Lucky Number Slevin

Worth mentioning:
Star Wars: The Original Trilogy - How many times are we going to buy Star Wars on DVD? At least one more time apparently. This edition not only has the more recent versions of the movie but, in theory, also contain the original, untainted, “Han Shot First” versions too as a bonus. I’m now taking bets on how long it takes for some fanboy out there with an original print, a DVD player, and too much time to find out these original versions have also been changed. Will Lucas sell me the same movies again after this? Sadly, I’d be lying if I said no.Row 1 - Cell 1 Row 1 - Cell 2 Row 1 - Cell 3
Row 2 - Cell 0
Row 3 - Cell 0 The Wild - Sure the story is pretty much the same as Madagascar. Give it a chance though, you might discover you like this version better. I know I did. Then again, any day I get to choose between William Shatner or Sacha Baron Cohen I’m going to go with the Shat.Row 3 - Cell 2 The Office – Season Two - Any doubts people had about the American version of this series becoming something unique ended with this season. You may buy the set that contains the whole season, but you really only need to watch the last ten minutes of the season finale for proof that this show is brilliant in its execution.
