The DVD Blend Picks Karma

Each week DVDs come out. Some of them are worth your time and money and some aren't. Some of them are movies I've seen, and some of them aren’t. Regardless, I give you my opinion on the big releases of the week. If the releases sound like something you want to buy, just click the link to go to Amazon.com and you’ll support Cinema Blend with a few pennies. Take it or leave it, here's the DVD Blend.

Cinema Blend Pick of the Week:

My Name Is Earl: Season One

As a show starring Jason Lee and Ethan Suplee, “Earl” had my attention from the start. Sadly I didn’t expect it to accomplish very much since the cast had a cult following at best. Little did I know “Earl” would become one of the breakout hits of the season. Following a white trash hero as he tries to repair his past mistakes to balance out his bad karma, the show works in every single angle, from Lee’s unlikely hero to Suplee’s childish innocent sidekick to Jaime Pressly’s redneck queen ex-wife character. If you haven’t seen “Earl” before now, here’s your chance, with all of Season one and quite a few bonus features to boot!

Worth mentioning:
Row 1 - Cell 0 Hard Candy - Considering the critical attention this movie got, it really should be my pick of the week. Since I haven’t actually seen the movie yet (something I hope to amend with this DVD release), I’m just leaving it as a recommended pick. This is not a movie for the easily offended, but is supposed to pack quite the message.Row 1 - Cell 2 Stay Alive - So sue me, I’m one of the only critics on the internet to actually like this PG-13 horror flick. I don’t know what won me over but its simplistic idea and low budget execution just made me like it. Check it out in original flavor or the ever popular needless extended director’s cut version.
