Explore The Unexplored With The Lost Season Three DVDs

Fans of “Lost” regained their faith this season as ABC gave the show a solid non-stop run for the bulk of the season. Gone were the endless repeats and on-again off-again episode schedule. Instead the series got a chance to really shine as it explored more of the island the passengers of Oceanic Flight 815 have been stuck on for several seasons now, including a more in depth focus on the mysterious others. The season culminated in what is arguably one of the best episodes of television ever, laying out a strong hook for the next season and a debate for months on just what the show will be like when it returns.

If you somehow missed “Lost” Season Three, or lost your own way from the show, never fear – the DVD set is never far behind… although this one is a tad farther behind then we’d like. LOST: The Complete Third Season – The Unexplored Experience won’t be coming to DVD until December 11th.

Why the close to year end release? It’s simple. The non-stop run of seventeen episodes really helped keep fans tied to the show, so ABC is taking the same approach next year. This means the new season of “Lost” won’t be coming around until January of 08, so a December release ties in very nicely. The fact that it’s smack dab in the middle of the Christmas shopping season probably doesn’t hurt much either.

What can we expect from an “Unexplored Experience”? Well, start with all 23 episodes of the third season. Then add in the following bonus features:

Bonus Materials

  • “The World of the Others” - The secrets and mysteries of the Others revealed by the cast and producers
  • “Lost Flashbacks” - Never-before-seen glimpses into the past lives of the castaways
  • “Lost in One Day” - An exclusive behind-the scene look at 24 hours in the life of this series
  • “Lost on Location” - A behind-the-scenes look at 10 episodes
  • “The Lost Book Club” - Get hints to the significance of the show’s literary references
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Bloopers
  • Audio Commentaries

While that sounds a little light on the bonus materials for an “unexplored experience,” the “Lost” DVD sets have never left us wanting before, so I can’t imagine this one will come up short either.

Sadly, no artwork to show at this time, although I’m betting it’ll tie in to the Season 3 artwork which featured a kind of shattered collage of the faces of the characters. Let the long wait until December 11th begin.
