Pooh Comes To DVD In A Friendship Edition

Anybody who listens regularly to our Weekly Blend Audio Show knows I’m a friend of Winnie the Pooh. After all, one of our repeating gags about the appearance of Galactus in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is that he’s a “little black rain cloud” – straight from the Pooh stories. Disney is making me a happy guy by releasing a special “Friendship Edition” of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh on DVD.

The DVD collection brings together some of Pooh’s best known stories: Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day, Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, and my personal favorite, Winnie the Pooh with Tigger, Too. Besides remastering these timeless classics, the DVD will contain quite a few extras:

DVD Bonus Features

  • Bonus Episode of “My Friends Tigger and Pooh”
  • ”The Story Behind the Masterpiece” Featurette
  • Winnie the Pooh Theme Song Performed by Carly Simon
  • “100 Acre Wood Challenge” Game
  • “A Day for Eeyore” Short
  • “Winnie the Pooh” Video Art Gallery
  • “Pooh’s Shadow” Disney’s Story Time
  • “The Wonderful Thing about Tiggers” Sing-A-Long Song

I have to admit, some of this bonus material doesn’t interest me very much – for instance, DVD games have never been a great draw for me, and I’m not a fan of the more recent “My Friends Tigger and Pooh” series, but then again, I’m not the target audience for this release. I’m just an older fan of the classic Disney Pooh stories. Clearly the DVD is aimed more towards the current, younger fans.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: Friendship Edition comes to DVD on June 19th. See the artwork below.
