The Silver Surfer Rises On DVD And Blu-Ray

Last week Fox announced it’s upcoming slate for the rest of the year, accentuating the plans for the Blu-ray format, which Fox is using exclusively for its high definition format. One of the two headlining movies in the studio’s announcement was Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, which has now gotten some added details and a definitive release date.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer will hit DVD in a single disc and double disc “Power Cosmic” edition, as well as a Blu-ray release on October 2nd. While the single disc is about as sparse as you’d expect, the “Power Cosmic” edition actually looks pretty loaded. I’m a little surprised that more isn’t being offered exclusively on the Blu-ray side, however. A trivia game and a strategy game isn’t exactly going to make me lose sleep about not getting a high definition version of this movie, and certainly isn’t going to make me want to change over from HD DVD.

Take a look at what you’ll find on the different editions as well as the package artwork for the standard edition/Blu-ray release:
