Wall-E Tops DVD And Blu-Ray Sales Charts

For the second time this year, a kung-fu master has faced off with Pixar’s trash compacting robot and the robot has come out the successor. Wall-E took the top spot in last week’s Blu-ray and DVD sales, beating out the previous week’s winner, Kung Fu Panda.

Comparing the two titles, there’s no big surprise to see Wall-E the victor. Both movies are great stories, but Wall-E has a better package, from the superior added animated tale (Burn-E is worlds better than Secrets of the Furious Five), not to mention a truly behind the scenes look at Pixar as a company with The Pixar Story.

Wall-E may have beat Master Po, but he didn’t take the top spot in DVD rentals, which went to the Ben Stiller comedy Tropic Thunder. Apparently more people bought Wall-E and rented Tropic Thunder since they both held the top two spots on sales and rentals charts, as reported by Nielsen VideoScan First Alert charts, just switching places based on sales or rentals.

Kung Fu Panda managed only to drop to third place, ahead of Hellboy II: The Golden Army in fourth, and new release Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 in fifth on the sales chart.
