We're finally going to get Episode 3: Above The Law for the third season of Telltale's The Walking Dead. The first two episodes started off with a bang, and a new teaser trailer for the next entry in The Walking Dead: A New Frontier showcases Clementine's killer baseball swing.
If you haven't played the previous two episodes, the trailer is rife with all sorts of story spoilers, so if you plan on playing the first two episodes then you might want to avoid watching the trailer above, because it's going to give away a ton of stuff that happened during the season opener.
So, obvious spoilers are ahead since the trailer can't really be discussed without them. Javier has been taking care of his niece and nephew along with his brother's wife, but during their journey they're attacked by a group known as the New Frontier. David's daughter, Mariana, is shot in the face and killed as retaliation from some members of the New Frontier after Javier and the others tried gathering supplies from one of their camps. They also manage to wound David's wife, Kate, with a near fatal bullet wound to the stomach.
Unbeknownst to David, the New Frontier tries to kill Javier and the rest of the group. However, Javier, with the help of Jesus and Clementine, manages to get to the New Frontier compound where the leader, David, confronts them. The trailer picks up where The Walking Dead Episode 2 last left off, with Javier and David discussing how David's family has basically been killed off by his own group members.
This might sound really confusing to people who haven't been following The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, but it all makes sense in context. The real tension will come from how Telltale portrays David. Both him and Javier have had a really strained relationship, and it makes sense that such a strain would carry over with the two meeting up again at the New Frontier base.
The trailer hints at David eventually kicking Javier and the others out of his compound, forcing them to have to survive on their own. We haven't really seen or learned enough about the group to understand exactly what drives David to making the decision he does, but we'll likely find out in Episode 3 for the newest season of The Walking Dead.
We also don't know much about the rules of the group. Every group has a set of rules, and it's something that's usually established at some point so viewers have an understanding of how things work.
So far, a lot of people like the tension of the third season but they'll need to keep the character development and plot sensibly paced and the situations reasonable. It was one of the things that made the first season of Telltale's The Walking Dead so memorable. We'll find out exactly how memorable Episode 3 will be once it becomes available for home consoles, PC and mobile devices on March 28th.
