For the final week of 2017, Nintendo decided to roll out some awesome new games for Nintendo Switch owners to play while heading into the new year. The final Nintendo eShop update of 2017 has a little bit of something for everyone.
One of the most anticipated games for the Nintendo Switch is available on the Nintendo eShop in the form of Image & Form International's single-player role-playing game, SteamWorld Heist: Ultimate Edition, which comes with everything that was originally available in the base game, but also comes with the additional "Outsider" campaign DLC, along with all of the post-launch weapons, upgrades, hats and other items that were available for DLC.
The sci-fi action title sees players traveling through space, battling enemies in hand-drawn side-scrolling levels, collecting loot, completing quests and upgrading your abilities along the way. The Switch version has a few new features in addition to the standard 20-hour campaign, such as the revamped touchscreen controls when you play in the portable mode.
For Nintendo 3DS owners, Nintendo added Syn Sophia's Style Savvy: Styling Star. The game is all about outfitting characters in more than 20,000 different fashion items as you manage and run a clothing boutique. The game features an in-game fashion handbook and search system so you can pick out the best styles that suit your tastes (and the tastes of your customers), along with supporting various Nintendo Amiibo so you can unlock and access specific patterns and emblems. You can also share your fashion styles online with the online showroom. The game is available for $39.99 right now for the Nintendo 3DS, and there's also a demo available.
Additionally, Nintendo recently added a demo for Mighty Gunvolt Burst for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS, a popular action-oriented game from Inti Creates that combines the Azure Striker Gunvolt and Mighty No. 9 characters into one game. There was also the recent addition of The King of Fighters '96, one of the classic outings in the long-running series that was fairly story-heavy at the time. This is the latest Neo Geo title to arrive for the Switch, with many of SNK's previous outings selling quite well for Nintendo's little hybrid handheld.
Arcade Archives Vs. Super Mario Bros was added to the Nintendo eShop this week, along with Woodle Tree Adventures.
The one game that absolutely should not go overlooked is the highly addictive, very fun, and the action-packed side-scrolling, cooperative multiplayer shooter, Guns, Gore and Cannoli. This is easily one of the most fun co-op shooters out there, combining elements from the beat-'em-up genre with the side-scrolling shooting genre, similar to the likes of Metal Slug and Dead Connection.
The best part about it is that Guns, Gore and Cannoli can be played in the four-player mode or with a variety of other controller configurations in versus mode. The game originally came out for PC and Xbox, and managed to sell decently on both systems. It's definitely a game you won't want to miss, especially if you've been craving a co-op action title for your Nintendo Switch.
