New screenshots have surfaced for the upcoming Nintendo 3DS exclusive, Yoshi's Island. Like other screenshots for other games, it features some actual in-game play, the main protagonist doing what it does best and Baby Mario just hanging on and kicking it easy on Yoshi's back.

Nintendo Everything managed to get their hands on the first set of screenshots for Yoshi's Island 3DS. The game sees Yoshi back in the spotlight, carrying Mario Mario around for some classic slurp, bounce and jump action. Players will bop bad guys on the head, scale through various, colorful environments and attempt to restore peace and balance to Yoshi's island.

The game is set for release exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS, but no official release date has been set for the game yet. This is the next title in the Yoshi's Island series since the release of Yoshi's Island on the Nintendo DS back in 2006. Sadly, the game won't be arriving for the Nintendo Wii U, although we all know that the Wii U is in desperate need of new games and fast, otherwise sales will keep slipping for Nintendo's newest home entertainment console.

Nintendo is expected to release additional information on Yoshi's Island, presumably at this year's E3, following up on their announcements of Mario Party 3DS, Mario and Luigi, and Legend of Zelda 3DS. While it's doubtful you'll learn anything new, you can pretend to fish for more information by paying a visit to the Official Nintendo Website.
