Adam Scott Joins Hartnett's 9/11

Adam Scott, whose hand I shook outside the Paramount Theater a few weeks ago at SXSW (I’m sure it was an extremely momentous moment for him) mostly because everyone else was doing it and I was standing there and it would have been awkward if I hadn’t shook his hand and given him an obligatory “oh good job man” (fortunately he actually was good), has joined the cast of Josh Hartnett’s 9/11 movie. That’s right, Josh Hartnett has a 9/11 movie.

The scoop on the project comes from Moviehole. The movie is called August, and it’s not so much about 9/11 as it is about people dealing with the aftermath of it. United 93 covered the people on the planes, World Trade Center covered the people inside the buildings, Reign Over Me handled the grief of those who lost family members, and August will dramatize those who suffered… um… financial loss. Important stuff?

August is about two brothers struggling to keep their start-up company alive on Wall Street during August of 2001, right before the world changing terrorist attack on September 11th. The movie stars Josh Hartnett, Rip Torn, Naomie Harris, and now Adam Scott. In a few months, you can also catch Adam in the film that brought him to the doors of the Paramount Theater in Austin, the awesome new Judd Apatow movie Knocked Up, where he plays a male nurse.
