The Avengers 2 Trailer Could Be Attached To Interstellar

Ever since The Avengers: Age Of Ultron wrapped production in August, everyone's been wondering when we'd see our first public look at the finished product. For a moment, we thought we'd see the first trailer drop on Robert Downey Jr.'s social networking profiles, but that reveal wound up being a new trailer for The Judge. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but we're dying to see a glimpse at the movie we'll be lining up to see next summer.

Well if Comic Book Movie's latest scoop is telling the truth, we could be seeing that trailer in theaters at the beginning of November, with a possible online release at the end of October. The announcement was apparently made by Warner Bros Russia (via FilmPro) and CBM speculates that the online strategy will be used in conjunction with this release.

Rather than just being a straightforward trailer, I wonder if the strategy for marketing The Avengers: Age Of Ultron might be a little different from the norm, but similar to what other blockbusters have done in recent years. Considering Interstellar is going to be a huge IMAX draw for crowds going to see it, it I wonder if The Avengers: Age Of Ultron might employ the same strategy the Dark Knight Trilogy used with its last two films. Basically, what if they converted the San Diego Comic Con sequence that shows Ultron launching an attack on The Avengers into IMAX, and attach it exclusively to IMAX showings of Interstellar, as well as releasing the traditional theatrical teaser alongside conventional showings of Interstellar as well as Big Hero 6.

While Warner Bros' American branch hasn't said anything just yet (nor has Disney for that matter,) the timing of this tease sounds just about right. Going back to the Dark Knight Trilogy example, advanced peeks for The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises would find themselves respectively attached to films like I Am Legend and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, in an effort to bring attention to those films, as well as boost the grosses for the IMAX presentations of the films they were attached to. Whether the latter worked out is up to how you crunch numbers, but in either respect it was still pretty good press for The Dark Knight trilogy.

Hopefully we'll have some sort of official announcement as to whether The Avengers: Age Of Ultron trailer will be attached to any theatrical exhibition of Interstellar and/or Big Hero 6 (which has the benefit of being both a Disney movie and based on a Marvel property). While we're at it, we can also continue to hope for a confirmation to the running time of Interstellar, but let's not ask for miracles here.

Interstellar hits theaters on November 7th, whereas The Avengers: Age Of Ultron makes the cinemas its bitch on May 1, 2015.
