Billy Ray Handling Remake of Argentinean Oscar Winner The Secret In Their Eyes

Because it beat out the fantastic A Prophet and The White Ribbon for the prize, The Secret in Their Eyes is one of those Best Foreign Language Film Oscar winners that even Oscar nuts like me may have missed. The Argentinian crime thriller got good reviews from those who caught it, though, and now even American averse to reading subtitles will have the chance to see what it's all about. According to Deadline Billy ray will direct an American remake of the film, based on his own adapted screenplay.

Ray is slightly better known as a screenwriter, having penned last year's State of Play, Flightplan and Volcano among others, but he's directed two of his own screenplays as well, the well-received but undersign Shattered Glass and Breach. His latest gig was adapting the hit fantasy book The Hunger Games for Lionsgate, which Gary Ross is set to direct. Warner Bros. is shepherding the Secret In Their Eyes remake.
