Every time I've written an article lately about British actor Michael Gambon, I've referred to him as Dumbledore-- because, come on, that's the role we all know him best for, right? But lately he's taken on so many new parts that I figure we'll all start knowing him just as Michael Gambon-- that guy who's in every other movie you see.
The newest role will be in The Book of Eli, the post-apocalyptic adventure starring Denzel Washington as the man intending to save us all. THR reports that Gambon will play one half of a couple that clings to old traditions, while presumably everyone else has move on to embrace the present. No word on who will play the other half of the couple, though I'm putting money on Judi Dench/Vanessa Redgrave/Imelda Staunton/etc. Maybe not someone quite so high-profile, but you get the gist. Thus begins the "Guess Michael Gambon's wife in Book of Eli!" game," a game that no one will care about but me.
