C. Thomas Howell Going Back In Time

Lost has cornered the market on mysterious islands for the time being, but let's not forget our ancestors. The Land That TIme Forgot, both the book by Edgar Rice Burroughs and the 1975 film, probably deserves some credit for the whole "shipwrecked on a crazy island" idea, and with a remake of the film coming this year, maybe it'll finally get the recognition it deserves.

Yup, there's a remake coming, featuring another band of shipwreck survivors who find themselves on an island inhabited by dinosaurs and Neanderthals. Moviehole has the exclusive details on the bizarre-sounding project, which will be directed by 80s actor icon C. Thomas Howell and will feature him, Christopher Showerman and Timothy Bottoms in the cast. Even stranger, they're planning to have the movie out later this year.

Forgive me if I'm operating on stereotypes, but how would a movie directed by a B-list actor and featuring no stars get the budget to feature dinosaurs? Or are we in for some hilariously awful CGI that will make the 70s special effects look impressive? And how the hell are they getting this finished by the end of the year? So many mysteries, so little time, but so much to look forward to when this crazy project actually comes out.
