Ghostbusters Go To Hell

We’ve been hearing rumors about another Ghostbusters sequel for years now, but nothing has ever come of it. Now it looks like the thing is finally moving. Our Oscar Chat partners over at Moviehole caught an interview with Ghostbuster 4 life Dan Akyroyd with CISNFM in which he says the movie is happening.

Apparently the roadblock all along as been Bill Murray. He’s kind of a pain in the ass. Bill is happy to do another Ghostbusters as long as he doesn’t have to be on camera. That’s made things difficult, until now. They’re solving his shyness with technology and borrowing a page from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Yep, the third Ghostbusters movie will be an animated movie done up entirely in CG.

So what will this animated feature be about? Well they’re borrowing that from other franchises too Much like Bill & Ted and Jason, the Ghostbusters may be going to hell. Akyroyd says his original outline for Ghostbusters 3 have the Busters making a device which works some techno babble “And when we step out of the chamber, it looks just like New York — but it’s Hell. Everything’s gridlocked — no cars are moving, no vehicles are moving, and all the drivers are swearing at each other in different foreign languages. No two people speak the same language. It’s all the worst things about modern urban life, just magnified. And Heaven was across the George Washington Bridge in New Jersey — which was irony. The Ghostbusters had to make this journey from lower Manhattan to the George Washington Bridge.”

At least that’s what he had in mind before they decided to make the movie animated. Going the CGI route may mean he’ll have to come up with a different idea, one that’s a little bit more family friendly. Satan is not for kids. But let’s hope not. I’m reserving a spot on my wall for a poster with the words Ghostbusters Go To Hell emblazoned on it.
